I Am Young America, a venture of I Am Young Nation L3C, is a for-profit, social enterprise venture that promotes entrepreneurship as a means to combat youth unemployment and boost economic impact in cities. Our mission is to help revitalize American cities by empowering young entrepreneurs to launch businesses and mobilize citizens everywhere to champion them. We highlight and support America’s youngest entrepreneurs through content, funding, services, apps & enterprises, resources and tools: online and off.
Beginning April 2014, I Am Young America's Detroit channel will be awarding monthly Micro-Grants championed by Individuals, Organizations, and Corporations, to Detroit doers between the ages of 16 and 39. By using their spare change to fund Micro-Grants, our Champions are literally being the CHANGE that they want to see in their city. The grants will provide the seed money to help turn young dreamers into young doers.
Individuals, Small Businesses, Corporations and Non-Profits all have the opportunity to Launch I Am Young America Micro-Grants by becoming Champions. Champions set the amount and criteria for their grants, add on any additional (optional) awards, and I Am Young America packages the Grant Campaigns around their brands. Awards begin at $500 and I Am Young America provides each grantee with Mentor Matching, Doer Membership, Opportunity for Matching High School Fellow, and Access to Co-Working Space for up to a year.
